Armed Forces Day is taking place at a new venue this year – Normanby Hall Country Park.
Expect parades, drill displays, and live music as well as mini tank rides, living history performances, and a Dad’s Army tribute show – and much more.
Entry and parking are free, dogs are allowed on a lead and free buses will be running to and from the venue – details of how to book a seat will be shared nearer the event. Read our news story.
Residents can travel to this year’s Armed Forces Day festival at Normanby Hall completely free of charge, thanks to a new partnership with local operator Hornsbys.
A fully accessible park and ride service will run every 20 minutes throughout the day on Saturday 20 June, taking visitors from Scunthorpe Bus Station directly to Normanby Hall Country Park. See our news story for more information.
This summer, North Lincolnshire Council is bringing the major national We’re Going on a Bear Hunt sculpture trail to the heart of Scunthorpe during the 2026 summer holidays.
Officially licensed by Walker Books and delivered in partnership with internationally renowned producers Wild in Art, the nine-week trail will feature a series of large-scale bear sculptures located across the town centre throughout July and August.
In addition, eight local schools and organisations have also been given the exciting opportunity to design and decorate their very own bear cub.
The adventure officially begins on Saturday 11 July, as the trail launches alongside this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, themed Read to the Beat.
Families are invited to join the celebrations from 10am to 2pm across 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, Church Square and Scunthorpe Central, with a lively programme of music, storytelling and creative activities to kick-start a summer full of discovery.
