Blue-green algae outbreak at Blue Lagoon

North Lincolnshire Council has received reports of a blue-green algae outbreak at Blue Lagoon on Normanby Road in Scunthorpe.

Test carried out by the Environment Agency have confirmed that the algae is a toxic strain. Please do not let your dogs drink from, swim or paddle in Blue Lagoon.

If your dog shows any of the following signs after drinking from, or swimming or paddling in water, contact your vet immediately and tell them you are concerned about blue-green algae:

  • Being sick
  • Diarrhoea
  • Seizures/fitting
  • Weakness/collapse/unconsciousness
  • Disorientation/confusion
  • Drooling
  • Breathing difficulties

The algae does not pose a risk to visitors to Blue Lagoon who stay around the lake and do not come into contact with the water.
