Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) update
As part of the adoption reform agenda set out by the government, there was an expectation that local authority adoption services would merge with other local authorities to form a Regional Adoption Agency. As a local authority, we have taken the time that we have needed to ensure that in moving forward, any decisions that are made, are taken in line with what would be the best thing for children and families in North Lincolnshire.
We have now formally joined a developing RAA partnership, alongside Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire, and Leicester City. Our shared aim is to deliver the benefits of a regional agency without disrupting arrangements that are already working well. There is no plan to move staff away from existing bases and our contact number will remain 01724 297000. You will still be able to contact us as your local adoption agency as you have always done.
Our RAA will be called Family Adoption Links and as we make the transition you will start to see things from us that refer to Family Adoption Links. You will see this in letters and if you receive information through the letterbox scheme. All letterbox arrangements will continue to be managed and supported as they currently are.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate the team on 01724 297000.
Adoption information events
Start your journey on the first Wednesday of the month
Ever thought about adopting but weren’t sure where to start? Our adoption information events, held on the first Wednesday of every month, are aimed at anyone with a question that needs answered about adoption.

Pupil premium plus is available to pupils from reception age to year 11 in state funded education who:
- have been adopted from care in England and Wales
- left care under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO), or
- left care under a Child Arrangements Order (CAO)
In order to access the funding, parents and guardians must declare their child’s adoptive SGO or CAO status directly to the school.
Parents and guardians must provide evidence. For example a copy of the legal order or confirmation letter from the council who placed their child. The school then needs to ensure that this is declared on the January census in order for the money to be allocated to them.
We urgently need adopters who can consider sibling groups or children with more complex needs. We welcome interest from people living in North Lincolnshire and those who live outside North Lincolnshire. We are always looking for adopters that we will be able to place North Lincolnshire children with.
Contact us on 01724 297000 if you are interested.
