Nominate champions in North Lincolnshire communities for their achievements

With over a month left for people to nominate for this year’s Community Champion Awards, North Lincolnshire Council is looking for people with remarkable achievements to be recognised.

The awards ceremony is taking place on Thursday 28 November 2019 at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe to recognise unsung heroes.

Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their personal achievement in overcoming barriers or excelling in a sport or the arts?

There are eight awards in the achievement category sponsored by Kapil Care:

Anti-bullying champion sponsored by Kapil Care
Nominate an individual or group of any age who has carried out work to challenge bullying. For example, they could have supported someone who has been bullied, challenged bullies or just worked hard to raise awareness of bullying and the impact it can have on people.

Personal Courage sponsored by Clugston Construction
Nominate an individual of any age who has overcome personal challenges above and beyond the normal to achieve their aims in life. The personal adversity they have had to overcome could be anything, for example financial, physical or mental health.

Sports Achiever of the Year sponsored by Hornsbys Travel
Nominate an individual to recognise their commitment and achievements in their chosen sport. They should have achieved a high standard of performance for example local, regional or national level.

Young Sports Achiever of the Year sponsored by S Smith and Co Accountants
Nominate a young person to recognise their commitment and achievements in their chosen sport. They should have achieved a high standard of performance for example local, regional or national level.

Young Arts Heritage Achiever of the Year sponsored by BRR Law
Nominate a young person who has demonstrated commitment and outstanding achievements in their chosen art form(s), for example dance, drama, music, singing, archaeology, drawing and writing.

Adult Arts Heritage Achiever of the Year sponsored by The Baths Hall
Nominate an individual who has demonstrated commitment and outstanding achievements in their chosen art form(s), for example dance, drama, music, singing, archaeology, drawing and writing.

Outstanding Achievement (young) sponsored by by North Lindsey College
Nominate a young person who has amazed you with a significant and outstanding achievement. For example raising large amounts of money for charity, representing their country or a significant academic achievement.

Outstanding Achievement (adult) sponsored by Road Traffic Solutions
Nominate an individual who has amazed you with an outstanding achievement or a significant personal accomplishment. For example raising large amounts of money for charity or representing their country.

The closing date for nominations is 30 September 2019.

Cllr John Briggs, Chair of the Community Champions Award Committee, said:

“The Community Champion Awards ceremony is an amazing event that brings the heroes in our communities to the forefront and recognises them for their brilliant achievements.

“I’m encouraging people across North Lincolnshire to nominate champions in their community.

“Do you know an individual or community group that has made great achievements? Please nominate them for a 2019 Community Champion Award.”
