Armed Forces Day is back for 2022 and will return in all its glory to a fun-filled family outdoor event on Saturday 18 June at Brumby Hall Sports Ground in Scunthorpe.

Promising to be a great day out, entry is free from 11am and closes at 4pm.

It’s a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the armed forces community: from those currently in service, to veterans, cadets and their families.

This year is a special one as we celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and retrospectively 100 years of the Royal British Legion and 100 years of the Royal Artillery Association.

There will be a spitfire flypast during the day.

The free event will feature musical entertainment on stage and much more to keep the whole family entertained throughout the day including:

  • A military parade
  • Cadet Village and cadet games
  • Static displays and living history exhibitions
  • Military organisations
  • Climbing wall
  • Live music
  • Birds of Prey display
  • Children’s entertainment
  • Re-enactments

A range of food and drink stalls will be there on the day, including ice cream, doughnuts, coffee, burgers and an outside bar.

Cllr Elaine Marper, Armed Forces Champion for North Lincolnshire Council said:

“North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day is back, and we are delighted to show our support for our brave servicemen and women. The event recognises the important contribution our armed forces have made and continue to make to our country, and we thank them wholeheartedly for their service.”

“It is always a wonderful day out for all the family. There will be lots to see and do throughout the day.”

Parking is available at UCNL. Disabled parking is available at the sports ground itself.

Former and current members of the armed forces are invited to march in the parade at North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day on Saturday 18 June 2022.

A short parade will take place from Brumby Hall Sports Ground to start the event. Refreshments will be provided after the parade for those taking part.

If you would like to be part of the parade, or would like more information, please contact North Lincolnshire Council’s events team on events@northlincs.gov.uk.

Bag checks will be carried out throughout the day when people enter. Dogs are not allowed to the event except service dogs.

Armed Forces Day is part of North Lincolnshire Council’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, having been awarded Gold in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Awards in 2020.
