The Baths Hall and Plowright Theatre could enjoy increased community use and continue the mix of live music, comedy and performing arts under proposals to return them to council management.

The proposal is for North Lincolnshire Council to manage the two venues – which have attracted a string of high profile performers – directly from February of next year. Currently ASM Global manage the facilities.

The move will allow the council to expand the community use of the facilities when they are not in use by commercial artists. It is also hoped the move will help attract more big-name acts to the venues.

Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for Ashby, Bottesford and Scunthorpe, said:

“I would like to thank the team at ASM Global for all the work they have done since The Baths Hall opened. There have been some memorable performances and some big-name acts welcomed to the area.

“We will continue to attract these acts to perform but at the same time make more use of the fabulous facilities at the Baths and the Plowright to benefit our local communities.

“To enable us to do this we are proposing to bring the management in-house from February next year.”
