Families can make more of the summer holidays for less as free swimming returns to pools across North Lincolnshire.

North Lincolnshire Council is bringing back Summer Daze from 20 July to 30 August, giving children aged 16 and under the chance to swim for free throughout the school holidays.

Free sessions will be available at council leisure centres in Brigg, Barton-upon-Humber, Crowle and Scunthorpe at The Pods, as well as Epworth Swimming Pool.

The popular offer gives families another way to enjoy the summer holidays without adding to the cost of a day out, while helping children stay active, burn off energy, spend time with friends and enjoy supervised sessions in a safe environment.

Family sessions are also included, giving parents, carers and grandparents the chance to enjoy time together with children.

A weekly Summer Daze SEND swim will also be available, giving children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities the chance to enjoy the water.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The summer holidays should be a time for children and young people to enjoy themselves, stay active and spend time with friends and family.

“Bringing back free swimming gives families practical support that can make a real difference during the six-week break.

“This is about delivering what matters for families, helping household budgets stretch further and making it easier for children and young people to enjoy safe, positive activities across North Lincolnshire.”

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families and young people, said: “The school holidays are a brilliant opportunity for children and young people to try new things, spend time with others and enjoy everything North Lincolnshire has to offer.

“Summer Daze gives families the chance to enjoy time together for free while encouraging children and young people to stay active throughout the holidays.

“We want every child to have the opportunity to make the most of the summer, whatever their circumstances.”

Summer Daze sessions will be included on pool timetables. Families should check session times before travelling.

Find Summer Daze sessions on the council’s swimming pages. Information about sessions at Epworth Swimming Pool is available on the Epworth Pool website.
