More than 40 community groups celebrated the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landing and Battle of Normandy over the weekend with help from £9,000 Community Grant Funding.

Community groups, town and parish councils and voluntary organisations could apply for up to £250 each from the dedicated funding pot for D-Day celebrations.

D-Day marks the historical date, 6 June 1944, of the largest naval, air and land invasion to ever be assembled and executed in history. It was the beginning of allied operations that ultimately helped bring the Second World War to an end.
