Businesses in the transport and logistics sector are being encouraged to attend a webinar where their views will help shape future policy in North Lincolnshire.
Topics under discussion at the session on 23 March will include the recent Humber freeport announcement, decarbonisation, Brexit and green energy.
North Lincolnshire Council is keen to understand what businesses want from the area and to share with them how recent budget announcements will benefit them.
North Lincolnshire Council’s Integrated Transport Strategy will also be under discussion, and ways the industry can rebuild and renew in North Lincolnshire post-Covid.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are keen to engage with businesses about their views on how we can emerge from the challenges of the past year, and to share with them some of the fantastic developments that were announced in the recent budget, such as the Humber freeport, Able Marine Energy Park and the Town Fund.
“Anyone involved in transport, logistics or supply chains is urged to come along and see how they can play a part in the future of North Lincolnshire.”
Ruth Carver, Chief Executive of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “I’m looking forward to joining the panel at the North Lincolnshire Transport and Logistics webinar.
“Creating sustainable transport solutions across Greater Lincolnshire has always been one of the LEP’s priorities.
“As we work towards net zero carbon in 2050 it’s important that we all collaborate to find sustainable transport solutions. Post Brexit, with a new Humber Freeport on the horizon, there are many new challenges and opportunities which require partnership and collaboration to overcome and exploit.
“We are very pleased to have played an important role in bringing some major transport schemes to fruition in northern Lincolnshire, including the Humber Link Road between Grimsby and Immingham which opened this month and the new junction on the M181 that unlocks 60 acres of land for commercial development, enables the building of new homes and eases congestion in North Lincolnshire.”
Panel members will include:
• Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader, North Lincolnshire Council
• Ruth Carver, Chief Executive, Greater Lincolnshire LEP
• Simon Green, Deputy Chief Executive, North Lincolnshire Council
• Lesley Potts, Head of Economy & Growth, North Lincolnshire Council
• Sarah Spink, Strategic Partnerships Lead, Midlands Connect
• Lucy Hudson, Principal Policy Officer, freight and logistics, Transport for the North
• David Gwynne, Humber Freeport Bid Director
• Andrew Morrison, Deputy Director, Local Transport, Local and Regional Transport Analysis, Department for Transport
Businesses attending the webinar will have the opportunity to put forward their comments and questions and panel members will be asked to respond to the themes being raised.
