A major refurbishment programme is set to transform Riddings Community Hub, with the council set to invest in significant improvements to secure the future of one of the area’s most valued leisure facilities.

The investment will deliver a refurbished swimming pool, modern changing facilities and essential roof and structural improvements, creating a better experience for thousands of residents who use the hub every year.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Riddings is an important community hub and this investment demonstrates our commitment to protecting and improving the facilities that residents value.

“We’ve invested significantly in leisure across North Lincolnshire over recent years because we know these facilities play an important role in helping people live healthier, more active lives.

“This refurbishment will ensure Riddings continues to serve families for many years to come.”

To allow the work to be carried out safely, sections of the the hub will be closed while contractors undertake the refurbishment. The closure has been carefully planned to ensure the swimming pool is drained safely when repair work carried out.

The pool will close on 17 July and while the gym, library and other hub activities will remain open for an additional six weeks, the library will be temporarily moved and remain accessible while the renovations take place.

The newly refurbished building will be re-opened in February.

Where possible, customers are being supported to use alternative North Lincolnshire leisure facilities during the refurbishment, while staff will be temporarily redeployed to other sites.

Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for Ashby, Bottesford and Scunthorpe, said: “This is much more than routine maintenance. We’re taking the opportunity to make lasting improvements that will benefit residents for years to come.

“While we appreciate there will be some short-term disruption, the result will be a modernised facility that offers a better experience for everyone who uses it. We’re committed to keeping customers informed throughout the project and helping them continue to access leisure services while work is taking place.”

Further information, alternative facilities and project updates, are being shared with customers throughout the project.
