A cheque for £12,000 has been donated to CRUSE Bereavement Support.
Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for commercial and MP for Scunthorpe, Holly Mumby-Croft, presented the cheque on behalf of families at Scunthorpe Crematorium.
The money will be used to provide bereavement support for people locally.
Cllr Neil Poole, said:
“On behalf of bereaved families, I am extremely proud to present this cheque to such a deserving cause. CRUSE provides vital support for people who are grieving when they need it the most.”
Nicki Nalton, Community Fundraising and Engagement Manager – Yorkshire and Humberside at CRUSE Bereavement Support, said:
“As the post pandemic picture unfolds, we are experiencing a huge increase in the need for our bereavement support. Your kind donation means we can be there for grieving people at a time when they need us the most. Not being there for them means other mental and physical health issues can develop such as depression, anxiety and increased use of alcohol or drugs, making their situation worse.
“By choosing to support Cruse Bereavement Support, not only reflects your commitment to the Bereavement Services ethos, it also means you are supporting everyone in your community, by ensuring people have access to bereavement support when they need it.”
