Several new stalls have opened their doors joining other traders on the first floor at St John’s Market in Scunthorpe.

Moo Moo’s –owned by the Phone Bar – opened several weeks ago and is already hugely popular with visitors to the market trying offering a delicious selection of unique milkshakes and cookies.

They have teamed up with The Cookie People, a locally based cookie business that has built a huge international following and has queues of hungry customers outside of their Ashby shop each week.

The cookies will be available from Moo Moo’s on Thursdays and Fridays whilst stocks last.

Jon Jarman who owns Moo Moo’s and the Phone Bar said:

“We could see the potential of the new market and we decided it needed a stall like this. The Phone Bar has been doing really well; better than what we thought it would. We’ve taken on a full time member of staff and another part time. In Moo Moo’s we have got one full time and one part time members of staff.

“Since we opened Moo Moo’s it has been going really well, a lot better than we thought. We’ve been doing double what we expected.”

Metcalfe Children’s Clothing has opened on the first floor (opposite the lift). They offer a great range of affordable children’s clothing from one to 13 years of age. Jason and Anne Metcalfe, owners of the clothing stall, said:

“We understand the need for good quality children’s clothing at affordable prices.  Kids grow up so quickly that they virtually need new clothes every few months. Come and have a look and see for yourself, we also have a great range of pyjamas.”

Phillip Smith Laminate Flooring Specialists opened on the ground floor earlier in the month and offer an extensive range of laminate flooring options for your home. They are situated in between Wanda’s Books and the Toyman on the far right aisle from the main entrance.

Phillip Smith, owner said:

“We have been operating in the Scunthorpe and surrounding area since 2002 supplying and fitting laminate, engineered and luxury vinyl flooring to both the domestic and commercial market.  We have a wealth of experience and offer customers, both new and existing, a reliable and professional service including free advice and measuring service.”

Alongside the new stalls, there have been some further changes on the first floor.

Gem Fancy Dress has moved to a larger stall and Nappa’s Chilli and Krafty Kents, now called Collection 10, have moved round the corner closer to the escalators.

Rachel Kent, owner of Collection 10 said:

“I decided to move stalls to change things up a bit and give people a new impression of the market every time they walk in. Trade has tripled since I moved stalls. Every stall has their quiet days but even those are better. I’m always introducing new clothing lines and may look at expanding this further after Christmas.”

Other new stalls are also lined up for the first floor of the market.

Denise Berry, Markets Officer, said:

“It is great to see new stalls opening in St John’s Market and other stalls expanding their businesses. Since opening its doors the market has proved very popular with a great range of products across both floors. A number of new enquiries for the first floor have come in and we are looking forward to welcoming more new stalls soon.

“We are working with our market traders to plan an exciting calendar of events and campaigns over the coming months so make sure you keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information.”
