Work is progressing well on a housing project in Brigg which will support adults with physical or learning disabilities to live independently.

The six new apartments are being built thanks to Government money as part of the Accelerated Housing Partnership Scheme – a joint venture between North Lincolnshire Council, Ongo and the Government.

We’ve received £72,600 funding from Department of Health’s Housing and Technology fund for assistive equipment and technology to be installed in the apartments to enable the residents to live as independently as possible.

The Accelerated Housing Partnership will see a number of new housing projects across North Lincolnshire, and create a total of 240 homes over the next two years.

£25m is being invested through the scheme to help meet housing demand, enable more people to get on the property ladder, live independently and create jobs.

Work is expected to be completed on the apartments in early 2019. The council’s Adult Services will identify the most suitable new residents for the apartments, once they are completed.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“Thanks to Government money, these six new apartments will provide much-needed, quality accommodation for disabled adults.

“Through our Government health grant, we’re able to ensure these homes have the right equipment to help the new residents live independently. People prefer to live in their own homes with the support they need.

“In total, the Accelerated Housing Partnership will see over 200 new quality, affordable homes built in North Lincolnshire – a significant investment and a demonstration of our commitment to providing homes and jobs in our area.”

Pete Stones, Director of Property, Ongo, said:

“We’re really pleased to see how these apartments are looking. They’re built to a really high standard and will certainly support people to live independently.

“These project is a fantastic example to show how this partnership between us is really making a difference to the people of North Lincolnshire.”

Ross Davy was the architect for the Brigg development, and Broughton-based, Moore Facilities Management were appointed as the contractor.
