Houses in multiple occupation (HMO) public register

Information about our Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) public registerĀ and how to search for HMOs in North Lincolnshire.

Overview

Section 232 of the Housing Act 2004 requires every local housing authority to establish and maintain a register of:

  • all licenses granted under Part 2 and 3 of the Act (HMO and selective licensing)
  • all temporary exemption notices served
  • all management orders made

New licence applications will not appear on our register until they have been processed and issued by the inspecting officer. We regularly update the list of issued licences. Landlords of properties issued with HMO licences must display a copy of their licence in a prominent position in the licensed premises. It is an offence for a person to have control of (or manage a licensable HMO) without a licence – or without applying for a licence. You should satisfy yourself that a licence is in place/an application has been submitted by the appropriate person before you agree to manage a licensable HMO. Otherwise, you could be breaking the law.
