North Lincolnshire Council is supporting Inter Faith Week (11 to 18 November 2018) to raise awareness of the different faith groups in our communities.
Throughout the week, we will increase awareness and understanding of the different faith communities across North Lincolnshire.
As part of this, we hosted a celebration event for local faith leaders today, Thursday 15 November at Normanby Hall.
The event focused on community contribution and discussion around:
“How does faith contribute to the life and community of North Lincolnshire?”
Cllr John Briggs, Mayor of North Lincolnshire opened the event. It was an opportunity for people to share and discuss the work they do and how this strengthens our community.
Inter Faith Week’s aims are to:
- Strengthen good inter faith at all levels
- Increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK, in particular celebrating and building on the contribution which their members make to their neighbours and to wider society
- Increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs

“We recognise the importance of good relationships and working partnerships between people of different faiths and beliefs. Inter Faith Week is the perfect opportunity to explore and get a better understanding of different faith groups and the communities we live in.
“This Inter Faith Week we are encouraging people in North Lincolnshire to get to know their neighbours and local communities to increase their understanding of people of religious and non-religious beliefs.
“The World Café event today was a great opportunity for different faith leaders to meet and talk about what their faith means to them. It was brilliant to see so many different representatives around one table for the benefit of our communities.”
