Marriage and Civil Partnerships Venues – Approved Premises

Marriage and Civil Partnerships in pursuance of Section 26(1)(bb) of the Marriage Act 1949 and Section 6(3A)(a) of the Civil Partnerships Act 2004.

Civil marriage ceremonies and civil partnerships can only be conducted in registry offices or approved premises.

Who needs to apply?

Premises seeking approval from the council have to satisfy a number of criteria. These are based on the requirements of the registrar and health and safety inspectors.

We aim to deal with grant and renewal applications within 70 days.  Tacit consent applies. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted/renewed if you have not heard from us by the end of the above application period.
