Young people aged between 16 and 25 in North Lincolnshire are invited to Glanford Park on Wednesday 19 September to meet with inspirational young minds from across our area at the North Lincolnshire Young Ambassadors Launch.
The launch event, which will kick off at 4.30pm at the home of Scunthorpe United, aims to inspire young people in our area to chase their dream career and provide guidance on how to achieve it.
The event will feature inspiration talks from our young ambassadors who will share their life experiences, including:
Stevie Joynson will explain how her apprenticeship lead her to where she is today;
James Devlin will talk about his career progression after university; and
Joshua Walshe will explain how he started his own business at the age of just 17.
The North Lincolnshire Young Ambassador programme hopes to ‘#createlincs’ between like-minded young people in our area and allow young people to network with local businesses who are looking for the next generation of their workforce.
If you are interested in coming along to the event, you can register your place on Eventbrite or by calling the team on 01724 297330.
Alicia Snow, from Scunthorpe, is the Chair of the Young Ambassadors programme and will open the launch event on Wednesday. She said:
"The world of work can often seem really intimidating to young people. The whole ethos of the Young Ambassadors programme is to break down that barrier and show that thinking about your future career doesn't have to be such a daunting prospect!
"This event is run for young people, by young people and it's an exciting opportunity to meet with others our age and local businesses in a relaxed environment. I'm looking forward to meeting you there."
Local businesses – including Clugstons, Phillips 66 and Pepperells Solicitors – will be at the launch event to talk about the opportunities and support they offer to young people, so make sure you bring along your CV!
Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“The North Lincolnshire Young Ambassadors programme will raise the aspirations of young people, by showing them the vast range of different career paths and options available for training and education in our area.
“At the launch event, young people will hear success stories from their peers who have already made promising starts in their chosen careers. Networking in this way with other young people and local businesses will help broaden their perceptions and expectations of the world of work and show our businesses that we have an enthusiastic future workforce with huge potential.
“This scheme is part of our vision to support a buoyant jobs market with access to more, better paid and higher skilled jobs in North Lincolnshire.”
