Over the past four weeks, schools across North Lincolnshire have been sending in their entries to our Song for Christmas competition and, following a tough deliberation process, we can now reveal the winner.
Congratulations to St Norbert’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy in Crowle!
St Norbert’s choir’s powerful rendition of Colours of Christmas by John Rutter has won the school £1,500 to spend on new musical equipment. St Norbert’s will also be performing their song live at the Scunthorpe Christmas Lights Switch On, hosted by Lincs FM, on Thursday 19 November.
We can also announce our two runners-up, who will both receive £250 to spend on new musical equipment; congratulations Kirton Lindsey Primary School and Outwood Academy Brumby!
Representatives from each of the three winning schools will attend the Civic Centre this afternoon (Monday 16 November) to be awarded their prizes by Cllr John Briggs and Cllr Julie Reed, ward councillors for Axholme North.
Cllr Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“Thank you to all the schools that have participated in our Song for Christmas competition this year – all of these carols and hymns certainly have brought a bit of festive cheer to our offices! Huge congratulations go out to St Norbert’s, Kirton Primary and Outwood Academy Brumby. With the prize money, the schools will be able to get some fantastic new equipment for our budding musicians.
“Good luck to the St Norbert’s singers on Thursday at the Christmas Lights Switch On; I hope you all have an unforgettable evening”.
