Construction underway for new sports centre

Construction is well underway for Axholme North Sports Centre

Work on the multi-million pound Axholme North Sports Centre in Crowle is well underway with preparation work being carried out on site.

Axholme North ward members, Cllr John Briggs and Cllr Julie Reed along with Andrew Percy MP visited the site on Friday 30 June to see the progress being made.

The new sports centre is being built next to Axholme Academy and is expected to open in late spring 2018.

The state-of-the-art facility will include:

  • A MUGA (multi-use games area) for football, hockey and other sports

  • Tennis and netball courts

  • A four-lane 25 metre swimming pool

  • Gym

  • Fitness studio

  • Spectator area and changing rooms

  • Changing Places toilet

The academy sports hall will also receive a makeover to complement the new sports centre.

Cllr John Briggs, ward member for Axholme North said:

“It is excellent to see progress being made on Axholme North Sports Centre in Crowle. This is a major investment in health and sports and will benefit people of all ages across the Isle of Axholme.

“We asked residents what they wanted and they said they wanted a sports facility in Crowle. The new sports centre will provide top class facilities and secure the council’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of its residents.”
