For King and Country exhibition 'First World War in North Lincolnshire’
Exhibition

The North Lincolnshire Museum is commemorating 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War. The exhibition focuses on the experiences of local people both on the Front Line and back home in Britain. It will also include a display looking at how the sacrifice of local men and women was recognised in the form of war memorials all over the region

Dead and Buried
Exhibition

Using examples from North Lincolnshire, this exhibition will look at changing attitudes to death and burial from the Prehistoric to the medieval period. Find out what the Anglo-Saxons took with them to the grave, and what Bronze Age people put in their beakers.

13 January until June 2015

Landowners, Bishops and Singers: The Story of the Elwes Family.
Exhibition

Come and see the impact the local landowning family the Elwes’s had on places such as Brigg, Wrawby and Roxby.  Find out about the legacy left by the famous singer Gervase Elwes as well as other important family members which have included Bishops, painters and Hollywood actors.


Friday 2 January, Saturday 3 January, Sunday 4 January and Monday 5 January.

Artyfact time 10.30am until 3.30pm on Saturdays and 1.30pm until 3.30pm on Sundays.
Find Dudley the bear hidden in the Museum and discover facts about the Museum’s objects. Take part in winter themed craft activities to take home.

Ideal for three to ten years. We also provide a small activity for under fives.

Free Vicarage tour Tuesday, 11am
Learn more about the history of North Lincolnshire Museum and the Vicarage built in 1875. Museum assistants will be on hand to show you parts of the building not usually seen by visitors, and explain how the building has changed.

No need to book. Tours run every Tuesday during term times, tours last around one hour.

Handle real museum objects! Each week a Museum Assistant will be on hand to help visitors investigate mystery objects from the collection.


Friday 9 January

Tots’ time, 1.30pm
Free under fives drop in session. Parents and toddlers can enjoy creative play. Handle objects, get messy and sing along.

Running every Friday during term time only, healthy refreshments available.

Saturday 10 January and Sunday 11 January
