There are many reasons to travel away from home, not only for a nice holiday. People for many centuries have left their homes to travel for science, war, religion or plain curiosity. In this exhibition you can find out where local people have been on their adventures near and far.

Garden Fete - 10.30am to 3.30pm

Come a long to our Garden Fete and meet our special guests the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor dinosaur. We have lots of fun for all the family including craft stalls, mini reptile zoo, Hornsby’s vintage bus and entertainment from Rock Academy, Dramarama, Tatterfoals Morris and Ruby Twirl Stars.
 
The mini reptile zoo will let you get hands on with snakes, lizards, tortoise, and variety of creepy crawlies including a Giant African Millipede.

Children can dig for fossils with Mary Anning our famous fossil hunter and take part in dino themed crafts.

For a chance to win walking with a t-rex or raptor on the event day. Simply get creative and design your own A4 dinosaur.  We ask that you give your dino a museum inspired name and bring your completed entry to the Museum reception. Closing date is Wednesday 22 July, competition suitable for 5 to 12 years please be aware young children may find scary.

Every Thursday during school holidays.

Get involved with creative play, drama and play fun themed games. No need to book just turn up between 1pm and 3pm. Free admission, suitable for ages 6- 11 years.

Friday 30 October

Halloween ghost night, 4pm-8pm
Come along and see the spooky Museum at night. Wander through the dark galleries and watch out for strange shadows and sounds.

Ghost stories and spine-tingling trails, supported by the Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club. £1 per child, last chance to take part in activities is 7:30pm.

Saturday 31 October

Pumpkin day event, 10:30 and 3:30pm
To celebrate Halloween come along to the spooky Museum, enjoy spooky trails and free crafts.  Take part in the annual pumpkin day trail. Drop in event, Suitable for 5 years and over. Last chance to take part in the activities 2.45pm on the day.

There are many reasons to travel away from home, not only for a nice holiday. People for many centuries have left their homes to travel for science, war, religion or plain curiosity. In this exhibition you can find out where local people have been on their adventures near and far.

To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, the Royal British Legion Remembrance service will take place outside North Lincolnshire Museum from 10.30am. Museum open from 9am until 4pm.
