We’ve done it! Northern Lincolnshire reaches target to deliver Superfast broadband

NL Broadband
Residents and businesses across Northern Lincolnshire have helped reach our target of 5,000 resident and 500 business responses to help us bring superfast broadband to the area.  Suppliers will now be asked to bid for the contract to deliver superfast broadband.

But it’s not over yet.  The council wants the surveys to keep coming in to help strengthen the business case.

North Lincolnshire Council pulled out all the stops to reach the target.  This included an extensive media publicity campaign, talking directly to businesses and residents through a range of key events and business meetings.

Local business organisations e.g. the Small Business Federation, Chamber of Commerce and Humber Chemical Focus have also taken on a campaigning role in promoting the survey.

And we enlisted the help of local broadband champions to help deliver leaflets and get the message across.

Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for Policy and Resources at North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“We’ve been campaigning to get superfast broadband for some months now, so I’m really pleased that we’ve reached the target.  Everyone has worked really hard and I want to thank you all for your support.  This means we can now move forward and progress with getting superfast broadband for our residents and businesses.

“Not only that, Broadband Delivery UK(BDUK) - the body behind the national broadband project - has adopted our approach as best practice so it is great to receive national recognition for our work.

“We still need your support.  It is important that people continue to fill in the surveys.  Even though we’ve reached our target, it doesn’t stop there.  It will strengthen our business case the more responses we have.

“We will shortly be asking companies to bid for the contract to become our project partner.  This will involve them creating a detailed implementation plan setting out what’s needed to enable maximum broadband coverage and speed.  Then, the actual infrastructure work will begin.

“We are still collecting responses, so it’s not too late if you want to support the project.  You can register your support at www.northernlincsbroadband.info."
