Join in the Jubilee madness!

Queen
North Lincolnshire Council is hosting lots of exciting and unusual events this Jubilee bank holiday weekend and is extending a big welcome to visitors to join in the fun.

From parties and Pif Paf rides to bell ringers and Johnny White’s amazing dog bike theatre! Everyone’s sure to have a good time.

You can experience being a King or Queen for the day, visit some awesome ancestors, join in jubilee mayhem week, or listen to the River Ancholme Jazz Band while relaxing in the tranquil Normanby Hall country Park.

And don’t forget, for bird lovers, we have a special visitor at Water’s Edge Country Park - an Egyptian goose.

Come to Alvingham Road Day Centre in Scunthorpe on Friday 1 June.  There’ll be stalls, tea and cake, entertainment and much more.  Why not take your own picnic?

Scunthorpe town centre celebrates the Diamond Jubilee in style! The Parishes Shopping Centre along with North Lincolnshire Council and The Foundry Shopping Centre is bringing in three unique ‘all things British’ artists performing at The Parishes, The Foundry, and The Podium @Scunthorpe Market. There will be stilt walkers, a human statue and magician! 3 Tenors will also be performing on Cole Street throughout the day.

What’s more, we’ll be handing out union jack flags so that you can celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in style! The British Heart Foundation will be distributing their union jack badges and we are hoping to get local dance groups/singers/bands involved in the fun!

Christine Edwards, town centre and tourism manager at North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“We’ve organised a whole range of events and activities at Normanby Hall Country Park, 20-21 Visual Art Centre, and North Lincolnshire Museum - from the fairly normal to the rather unusual with Johnny White’s amazing dog bike theatre being a must!

“You can have a go at making a giant sculpture in the gallery and design your own fantasy bike or bring your own bike, skateboard or mini-scooter and have a go on bike ramps.

“For those who like the birds of the feathery kind, visit Waters’ Edge Country Park over the weekend to get a glimpse of our latest visitor - an Egyptian goose, normally seen around the Norfolk coast.  Visitors will be in for a rare treat!

“So make sure you don’t miss out.  Have a great bank holiday weekend and enjoy the celebrations.”
