To mark the start of the National Armed Forces Day the Mayor of North Lincolnshire Council, Cllr Ivan Glover, will raise the flag at the Civic Centre on Monday 25 June.
There will be a parade through Central Park led by the ATC Band at 10.15am before the flag is raised at 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised to mark a week of celebrations and it will coincide with ceremonies taking place across the UK.
The event has been organised for people in North Lincolnshire to celebrate and honour our armed forces of the past, present and future.
The mayor is going to be joined by Col Davis Harris OBE TD DL Deputy Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Simon Driver, Chief Executive of North Lincolnshire Council and Reverend David Eames.
Children from St Hugh’s Communication and Interaction Specialist College and Bushfield Road Infant School are expected to attend.
There will also be members of North Lincolnshire Council, members of the Scunthorpe Armed Forces Day Committee, Veteran Associations and members of the Territorial Army and cadet forces.
The celebrations will end on Saturday 30 June with an event being held at Holme Meadow Recreation Field, Messingham, that all the family will enjoy.
Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women that make up the armed forces.
