North Lincolnshire Council is looking for people with a Level One sports Governing Body coaching qualification to help deliver more sports activities for young people in North Lincolnshire and who knows you could help coach future Olympic champions!
On Target and Street sport give young people the chance to take part in many sporting activities and provide them with opportunities to develop new social and leadership skills.
We need more sports coaches to meet the growing demand from young people who want to take part in a whole range of activities including rock-it-ball, street golf, dance, basketball, multisports and DJ workshops.
The sessions run Monday to Friday between 6pm and 9pm. But we want to expand to cover weekends too to meet demand.
If you would like to get involved and interested in casual employment opportunities or would like to volunteer but don’t have a Level One Sports Governing Body qualification, don’t let that prevent you from applying. We can provide training and support for you free of charge so that you can obtain one.
For more details and details of how to apply, email communityrecreation@northlincs.gov.uk or visit our website at www.northlincs.gov.uk/leisure/sports or ring 01724 297270.
On Target and Street Sport is brought to you by North Lincolnshire Council, North Lincolnshire Homes, Humberside Police, TATA Steel and Scunthorpe United Football Club.
The safety and welfare of young people is paramount. We always follow North Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board safer recruitment procedures when recruiting volunteers and paid staff to work with children.
Cllr Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for customer services sport and leisure at North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“This is a golden opportunity to get involved in the Olympic fever as it grips the nation. What better way to take part than to do something worthwhile and help others achieve their full potential in sport by helping us deliver sports activities to young people.
“On Target and Street Sport are fantastic initiatives that help young people get involved in sport and find something they like and could potentially excel at. It’s also a great way to meet new friends. With the school holidays upon us, there are lots of activities to get involved in. So don’t waste your summer hols, get out there and get involved.”
Claire Coyle, North Lincolnshire Homes, said:
“We are very proud to be supporting the On Target scheme and it is great that it is proving so popular with local youngsters.”
