Welcome to North Lincolnshire Museum Service

A great day out for all the family. Discover the stories of North Lincolnshire through many interactive exhibits - become a nature detective in 'Go Wild', step back in time in the Victorian ironstone cottage and relive the 'People's War'.

Climb the stairs to delight in the treasures of our new archaeology gallery and the award winning temporary exhibitions.

The museum displays draw on all of these collections, reflecting not only the great changes in the region but also the everyday lives of ordinary people.

There is also an exciting 1950's Courtyard Cafe and garden to explore serving a range of snacks and drinks.

Now open every Monday!

We now open 7 days a week. 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday and 1pm to 4pm every Sunday. (Please note our Courtyard Cafe will open Tuesday to Sunday).

Archaeology day every Monday

Monday is Archaeology day. Take part in our archaeolgy trail, learn more about the objects and enjoy object handling. With over 1600 objects on display in our newly updated Archaeology gallery we have lots to see and learn about. 10.30am to 3pm every Monday during term time.

Visitor comments and visitor increase

We have finally reached 30,000 visitors within 12 months. Thats a fantastic achievement for the Museum Service and we are all delighted.

Brand new museum guide

July to December 2013 museum guide willo be available from reception and other North Lincolnshire Council venues by the end of June.  Look outfor our new activities and events!

Did you know

Walking the way to health park walk takes place from the Museum every other Thursday at 2.15pm.

Improve your health and meet new people. Enjoy a free 3-mile relaxed and friendly park walk led and supported by trained volunteer walk leaders. Everyone welcome no need to book, just turn up on the day. Runs every other Thursday at 2.15pm meet outside the Museum.

Walkers can park in the Museum car park and are entitled to 10 per cent in our Courtyard Café plus a free trail from reception.

Courtyard Cafe

1950's inspired cafe offers visitors a range of hot and cold snacks and drinks located within our courtyard garden area.

Open 10.30am until 3.30pm Tuesday to Saturday, bank holidays and Mondays during school holidays, and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Sundays.

We also offer a takeaway lunch time service.

Craft events at the Musuem

We are holding regular craft events here at North Lincolnshire Museum. The next will take place on 18 May 2013, 14 September 2013 and 16 November 2013. Plus we have just confirmed six craft events for 2014.

Up the High Street exhibition

Step back in time through North Lincolnshire’s High Streets from Victorian times to the recent past. Explore the development of many of our favourite shops, cafes and local traders. Learn about its past and how our many High Streets have evolved over time.

Free tour Tuesday, 11am and 2pm

Learn more about the history of North Lincolnshire Museum and the Vicarage built in 1875. Museum assistants will be on hand to show you parts of the building not usually seen by visitors, and explain how the building has changed.

Photograph archive session, 11am to 3pm

Come along to see the image archive with over 8,000 North Lincolnshire images to view. Museum assistants will be on hand to help with orders and image searches.

New late night opening

Open 10am to 8pm on the second Thursday of each month.

New traditiaonl craft sessions

Come along and learn how to make a range of traditional crafts inspired by our collections. Meet new people and share craft ideas.

Crafts include, card making, crochet flower badge making, wrapping paper printing, gift bag and lavender bags.

Session run every Friday morning during term times, 10.30am until 11.30am. £4 per person, no need to book just turn up.
