Ashby, a large village and township 7 miles
west from Brigg, in the parish of Bottesford, containing 429
inhabitants, and 2,100 acres of land, extending to the river Trent,
on the direct road from Brigg to Burringham ferry. The Wesleyan and
Primitive Methodists have each a chapel here. The Hull and
Gainsborough steamers pass in the Trent.
