Libraries

The council's libraries and information service offers an extensive range of services to the local community.

We operate one central library, 14 branch libraries and a mobile library service. Library users can select from a wide variety of books and other materials. To find out the opening times and facilities available at the libraries visit the your local library page.

If you have access to the Internet, you can use our services from home or from any internet-enabled computer or phone.  You will be able to renew your loans as well as update your personal details, check the library catalogue and place reservations, both for items in our stock and items which are not

We also subscribe to a range of online resources that you can use for free, even when the library is closed. Visit our 24/7 Library - Online Reading Room.

The library service is your link with other local, regional and national libraries and specialist information services.
