Both amateur and professional artists over the age of 16 living within the Humber and Lincolnshire region (DN, LN or HU postcode areas only) are invited to submit works for the exhibition. Our independent judges will select the best works to be included in the exhibition and to win one of our prizes.
A prize of £300 plus the opportunity to exhibit at 20-21 will be on offer for the winning entrant. Runner-up prizes include cash prizes, gifts and high street vouchers sponsored by local businesses. There will also be special prizes for best Class II (sculpture) work, best Photograph and best work by a student.
Who can apply?
Anyone 16 years of age or over resident in an address with a Doncaster (DN), Lincolnshire (LN) or Hull (HU) Postcode. Entrants to the Student Prize should tick the relevant box on the application form.
Judging
20-21 Visual Arts Centre has selected three independent judges who will select artworks to be included in the exhibition on Tuesday 16 July. This years independent judges will be artist Paul Collinson, former 20-21 Visual Arts Centre Young Curator Michael Burkitt and owner of the Past & Present Antiques and Collectables Dave Hampton. Entrants will be notified of the judges’ decision by post.
Fee
There will be an entry fee of £5.00 per artwork, £2.50 concessions (Proof required in all cases at time of entry). Acceptance to the final exhibition is not guaranteed and fees are not refundable.
Insurance
Works are submitted at the owner’s own risk and 20-21 is not liable for damage caused during delivery, storage and selection. It is the responsibility of the artist to arrange insurance cover during these times if necessary. All selected work will be fully insured during the exhibition period.
Submitting work
There are two classes for submission

Class I: Painting, printing, drawing, photography

Class II: Sculpture, video/digital media and works measuring over 2m in any direction.
Class I work must be delivered to 20-21, with a completed entry form and payment, on Thursday 11, Friday 12 or Saturday 13 July.
Class II (Sculpture, video/digital-media and oversize works) sculpture and oversized works can be entered by sending up to six good quality photographs or digital images, along with a completed entry form and payment to 20-21 by Friday 12 July. Film and video submitions should be in DVD format. Cheques should be made out to North Lincolnshire Council. Selected Class II work must be delivered to 20-21 prior to the exhibition installation.

Collection of submissions
Any unselected work must be collected between Wednesday 31 July and Saturday 3 August. Work selected for the exhibition must remain at 20-21 until the close of the exhibition and be collected between Wednesday 25 and Saturday 28 September.
Conditions

Class I work must be either framed or on stretched canvas, with a means to secure the work with ‘mirror plates’.

Large oversized works measuring over 2m in any direction should be submitted as Class II work (photographic documentation).

All works should be unpacked on delivery and the packaging taken away.

Please remove all hangers and fittings from the back of artworks and mark ‘TOP’ on the rear of the work.
- ‘Clip’ frames, metal or plastic frames are not permitted.
Special Evening Opening Event
An evening opening event for the 2013 Open will be held on Friday 26 July from 7pm to 9pm. Prizes will be awarded at 8pm.
