Education and Outreach

Schools workshops and visits

20-21 offers an education service with creativity and learning at its core, complimenting our rich and changing exhibition programme. We welcome all schools, colleges and alternative education groups and offer a wide range of activities to suit most school requirements.

Below is a list of some of the education offers here at 20-21. We often take requests for bespoke workshops to best suit the needs of schools.

Self Guided Tour

Self Guided Tours are free and are a fantastic way to ensure your pupils encounter quality contemporary art. All Self Guided Tours should be booked in advance, even for groups of 10 and under. We advise that you contact our Education Officer, Hayley McPhun, for guidance in ensuring you get the most out of your visit.

Free to all groups without the use of the activity table.


The education room can be booked in advance for groups to use for their own activities, at a cost of £10 per hour between 10am and 4pm. The school or group should supply all materials.

Cost: FREE without use of education room for activities.

NEW Self Guided Tour Packs


The new packs are specially designed to compliment our changing exhibition programme, as well as being directly related to art and design national curriculum at each key stage. This means each pack will be specific to a school's requirements, as well as being relevant to our exhibitions; enhancing any Self Guided Tour in the centre. Contact our Education Officer to get your Self Guided Tour Pack.
Cost: FREE

Tours/talks

Tours and talks can be planned to link with specific subjects or themes explored in current exhibitions, making the most of your visit to 20-21. Please contact our Education Officer, Hayley McPhun, in order to arrange a gallery tour or talk.
Cost: £15


Workshops

Inspired by our current exhibitions, all workshops explore materials and themes presented by contemporary artists. Workshops are available throughout the school year and are designed to compliment the school curriculum. All workshops feature current exhibition visits, where possible.

Angels and Gargoyles

This workshop is available all year round and focuses on exploring sculpture and methods used to create 3D objects. It includes looking at our sculpture handling collection and a tour of the angels and gargoyles of 20-21’s church building. Children create their own angel or gargoyle using air drying clay.


Suitable for all key stages.
Half day workshop (2 hours).
Available as outreach.
Cost: £2.50 per pupil in-house or £3.50 per pupil with travel costs for outreach.

Artist Led Workshops

We have a vast group of artists that we work with here at 20-21, who each come highly recommended. Contact our Education Officer for an informal chat on what artist would best suit your requirements. All artists come at varied costs and can build workshops bespoke to your needs.

Contemporary art and craft shop

A range of souvenirs and educational items are available to suit all levels of pocket money. Pre-prepared souvenir packs can be arranged for collection during a visit. Please ask and we will post you a sample pack.

Toilets and baby changing

Toilets, including an accessible toilet, are located next to the reception. Baby changing facilities are located in the accessible toilet.

Lunch room

The education room can be used as a lunch area for pack-ups if booked in advance.
Cost: FREE

Activity room

The education room can be booked in advance for self-guided school visits to use for their own activities. The school should supply all materials.
Cost: £10 per hour

Access

20-21 is fully accessible. The reception desk and education room are fitted with an induction loop. Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome.

We have gone green! To cut down on printing and help play our part in saving the environment we are aiming to use email to send out our education newsletter. We will be sending out emails to keep you up to date with education news, forthcoming workshops and events.
