Handyman scheme

Who runs the 'one community' project?

The one community scheme is a partnership between North Lincolnshire Council, Humberside Police, social services and several other organisations. The scheme covers the whole of the North Lincolnshire area.

Who pays for the work?

The scheme is partly funded by the partners and by charging for the services provided at a very competitive price.

Who will carry out the work?

The scheme employs three handymen to carry out all the work.

One community united against crime

  • Have you been the victim of burglary?
  • Are you concerned about your house security?
  • Are you worried about the threat of burglary in your area?

If the answer is 'yes' we may be able to help you upgrade the security of your property by fitting some or all of the following items:

  • window locks
  • upgrade door locks or fit additional locks
  • security bolts
  • door chains
  • door viewers/peep holes
  • kick stops

All enquiries will be charged at a very competitive rate.

The handyman scheme will also carry out the following:

  • minor repairs to your property
  • small works such as fitting curtain rails, putting up shelves etc
  • small decorating jobs
  • improvements to access, such as ramps for scooters, additional steps
  • additional hand rails

Gardening service

We can cut and trim your lawns, cut back rough grass and bushes, clear paths, trim back shrubs, cut hedges and much more. The charge for this service is £11 plus 20 per cent VAT for half-an-hour and £20 plus 20 per cent VAT for an hour.  If however, you receive a means tested benefit you can receive a reduced rate.

There is an additional charge if the gardening work requires the use of the trailer to transport the waste - £18 per load.
