The council is responsible for ensuring that everyone in North Lincolnshire has access to a home that meets their needs.
Both independently and working in partnership we will:
- Aim to balance housing markets by working with developers to build affordable homes, and plan for sustainable communities;
- Assess and meet the diverse needs of the young, elderly, disabled, homeless, learning challenged or those from disadvantaged minority groups
- Provide access to social housing through North Lincolnshire Homes and other registered social landlords;
- Improve private sector housing whether by area renewal, loans, grants or other forms of assistance;
- Enforce housing standards and legislation relating to private sector housing;
- Reduce the environmental and climate change impact of new and existing homes whilst reducing fuel poverty
- Provide assistance to low income families to meet the cost of a home through council tax benefit and housing benefits schemes
- Work as a strategic planning authority to co-ordinate and develop housing with other council and external services such as transport, health, education and economic activities.
