Upsize your recycling bins
The council can provide larger recycling bins - for further details please see the larger recycling bin page.
The council provides assisted collections for anyone who has a physical/medical condition/infirmity/a temporary injury or pregnancy leaving them unable to present their waste for collection.
For more information and details of how to apply please see the assisted collection service page.
The council also offers a service for people with large families of five people or more. If you are genuinely struggling to cope with the scheme, we are happy to talk to you. Please call the helpline number below or see our larger households page for more information on this service and details of how to apply.
A minority of people who live in flats will not be able to take part in the scheme just yet. This is because it is not practical to provide flats with the bins and boxes. But we are currently exploring ways for these properties to recycle more of their rubbish. We will keep those residents up to date with progress.
Frequently asked questions
Please see our frequently asked questions pages.
A growing number of people are keen recyclers already, and, for those who can't see the point of the extra effort and expense, the answer is simple - we no longer have a choice. If you need reasons why we all must do our bit, try these:
- We throw away too much. The earth's resources are finite. If we don't reduce and re-use what we class as 'waste' we'll run out of raw materials
- Economically and environmentally, it makes sense to recycle. Re-using materials causes less pollution, uses fewer resources and saves money
- There's not enough space to put the waste we produce in landfill. Landfill sites are filling up fast and other disposal methods are not long-term solutions
- The council can only do so much. Your cooperation is essential. If together we do not continue to drive up the level of household waste recycled, we'll all pay - in higher council tax. There's no getting away from this
North Lincolnshire Council would like to thank residents for their continued support and efforts towards improving recycling in the area. We are now one of the top performing councils in the region. This is thanks to residents who think about what they do with their waste.
