There are five furniture reuse groups in our area that have contacted the council to assist us in signposting people to their service in order to capture more items.
The council would like to encourage residents to take advantage of these reuse schemes in order to maximise reuse and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. Please see below for more information on the reuse schemes in our area.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) provides a free collection service for any good quality furniture and electrical items within North Lincolnshire.
Collection will normally be made within three working days and you will be advised of your collection day by BHF.
BHF will not be able to give you an exact time, but if you are not going to be in on your collection day then you will be asked to leave the item outside (preferably covered up) with a note confirming that it is for donation to the BHF scheme.
If you will be at home on the day of your collection then BHF will collect the item from inside your property.
The items collected by BHF will be sold at the shop in Scunthorpe and all proceeds go towards preventing and fighting heart disease.
Some things to think about when you call BHF to request a collection are:
- Are the items in good/reasonable condition and fit for reuse?
- If the item is soft furnishings (settees, etc.) or mattresses, then do they have a fire label attached to them? If not they cannot be reused by BHF.
- If the item is electrical is it in good working order? If not it cannot be reused by BHF
- Check that the items are not on the list of items that cannot be accepted by BHF for reuse.
If you can answer yes to all of these questions above then you can request a collection from BHF by calling 0844 499 4166.
Alternatively you can order a collection online.
