Spatial Planning Research

Spatial Planning's Research section plays a pivotal research and analysis role. It provides data to support the production of policy and other documents of a statutory and non-statutory nature. This contributes towards helping North Lincolnshire develop and become a better place in which to live, work and invest.

A key research function is to ensure that planning policies are adhered to. Monitoring entails the collection and analysis of data in order to measure the performance of North Lincolnshire Council against other local authorities in the region and sub-region. It also enables us to check how the council is doing against national targets. This can be done year on year in order to identify trends. It is essential that as a unitary local authority we put in place the mechanisms, which make monitoring possible.

Local Development Frameworks

Local Development Frameworks are continually reviewed to ensure they remain up to date with emerging national and regional policy and local circumstances. The section publishes an Annual Monitoring Report, which is the main mechanism for assessing Local Development Framework performance and its effects.

The section also provides information on the Census and holds data on population/demographics, housing and employment.
