Statement of community involvement

Community involvement is a major part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) preparation process. The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets the standards and approach that North Lincolnshire Council takes to involve stakeholders and the community in the production of the Local Development Framework (LDF), as well as the handling of major planning applications.

The aim of the Statement of Community Involvement is to:

  • Help ensure community ownership of the LDF
  • Strengthen community involvement in planning
  • Involve stakeholders and the community in the production of the Local Development Framework
  • Improve the overall representation and involvement across all sections of the community

SCI Update

Due to changes in the regulations governing community involvement in the preparation of the various documents which make up the Local Development Framework as result of the publication of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and 2009, the council considered it appropriate to revise its Statement of Community Involvement.

A revised version of the SCI was issued for public consultation between the 25 November 2009 to the 13 January 2010. It attracted total of 26 representations from 12 organisations or individuals. These can be viewed online using the Limehouse consultation portal website.

Following the consultation period, the SCI was finalised and adopted by Full Council on 14 July 2010. It replaces the previous SCI issued in April 2006 and will be used by the council in preparing its LDF documents:

If you wish a copy of the revised SCI document a charge of £10 will apply for paper copies. CD versions of the document are available free of charge.
