Course aim
During the course the learner will be shown how to:

cut pattern pieces both paper and fabric

tailor tacks and baste tacking

garment construction techniques
-
finishing techniques such as seams and hems
-
alteration to existing garments by either size or design

explore fabrics, weight and versatility

explore construction and finishing techniques suitable for each project

maintain a safe working environment
Methods of assessment
The course tutor will help each learner to develop an Individual learning plan so that they are aware of their personal progress on the course. The course tutor will work one to one with each learner and provide demonstration, guidance and feedback relating to progress and achievement. Photographs of work will be used to record individual progress and end achievements.
Requirements for first session
You will require a pattern and some fabric, a small sewing kit such as pins, needles, tape measure, cottons etc.
Additional costs
Own fabrics or cottons, zips etc.
