This course will be half price for people aged over 60 and not in receipt of pension guarantee credit. It will only cost £5 for people in receipt of benefits. Please enquire if you think you might be eligible for fee remission.

Course information

Level 

All abilities - for anyone who would like to take up the opportunity of painting outdoors in a group setting.

Beginners onwards.

Subject details 

Come along and enjoy the challenge of this one day course.

We will meet at 10am on the bank of the River Ancholme at the Brigg Leisure Centre car park to pursue what should be (weather permitting) a very pleasurable day outside painting or drawing.

The bridge, boats and water are challenging subjects for all abilities and provide a very picturesque opportunity. Learners can choose to work in any medium of their own choice.

Support and guidance will be given by the tutor to individual learners throughout the day. 

Course aim

  • to provide the opportunity for learners to work outdoors as a group with like minded people

  • to experience the challenge of painting outdoors and further develop individual creativity

  • to be inspired by natural surroundings and capture the scene through artistic means 

Learners will be able to: 

  • develop composition
  • develop use of perspective
  • develop use of media & creativity
  • develop use of mark making/texture/colour
  • create a drawing or painting of a view from the bank of the River Ancholme.
  • photographs of work will be used to record progress and achievement.
  • the course tutor will provide guidance and feedback relating to progress and achievement throughout the day.
  • at the end of the day painting and drawings will be shown for a group review 

Please bring with you: 

  • lots of enthusiasm
  • deckchair
  • easel or board
  • packed lunch/snacks/drinks
  • everything you will need for painting or drawing, even water if you need it
  • toilet facilities are available at the leisure centre
  • prepare for the weather
