Subject details
This course will allow the learner to explore and experiment with painting and drawing media and materials and learn new underpinning skills and techniques.
Course aim
With support and guidance from the tutor, learners will familiarise themselves with drawing and painting materials, resources, tools and equipment
Learners will be encouraged to explore the characteristics and techniques used for creating paintings and drawings. By the end of the course learners will have developed sufficient skills and knowledge to allow them to take ideas forward for further development.
Methods of assessment
The course tutor will help each learner to develop and individual learning plan so that they are aware of their personal progress on the course. Photographs of work will be used to record progress and achievement. The course tutor will provide guidance and feedback relating to progress and achievement.

Requirements for first session
Please bring with you any art materials that you may already own.
Ideas of what you would like to create, for example a photo, card, other artists work.
Some materials will be available for learners to use at the first session.
Advice will be provided from the tutor regarding the purchase of any items required whilst on the course. Costs will be kept to a minimum.
