Subject details
This course will allow the learner to explore and experiment with the characteristics of a range of tools and materials. Learn new underpinning skills and techniques in pottery and decoration with a floral theme.
Course aim
With support and guidance room your tutor, learners will familiarise themselves with clay and glaze materials, resources, tool and equipment. Learners will be encouraged to explore different methods and techniques for creating pottery. By the end of the course learners will have developed sufficient skills and knowledge to allow them to take ideas forward for development.
Methods of assessment
The course tutor will help each learner to develop an individual learning plan so that they are aware of their personal progress on the course. Photographs of work will be used to record progress and achievement. The course tutor will provide guidance and feedback relating to progress and achievement.

Requirements for first session
Please bring with you any materials/tools that you may already own and a pencil/pen and ring binder file for handouts. Some materials will be available for learners to use at the first session.
Advice will be provided from the tutor regarding the purchase of any items required whilst on the course. Costs will be kept to a minimum. (Clay £1 per 1lb used)
Progression routes
This is an intermediate skills course with a view to further development in a particular area of ceramic style or progression onto an accredited course.
