Fees for Birth, Marriage or Death Certificates

  • Superintendent Registrar - £10
  • Registrar of Births and Deaths or Marriages - £4 if issued on the day of registration or £7 if issued any day after up to a month following the date of registration

Short birth certificate

Issued by:

  • Superintendent Registrar - £10
  • Registrar of Birth and Deaths - £4 if issued on the day of registration or £7 if issued any day after up to a month following the date of registration

Note: One short birth certificate is issued free of charge at registration. Certificates are available from the Registrar only at the time of registration or up to a month afterwards. Once a register is filled it is passed to the Superintendent Registrar and certificates are no longer available from the Registrar.

You can now order certificates by telephone and pay by card. You can also apply online.

Charges for certificate applications

North Lincolnshire Register Office offers three types of certificate service.

  • Priority service - £23
    Certificate issued within one hour. Payment by cash, cheque or card.
  • Next day service - £13
    Certificate posted or available for collection on the next working day (£13.50 if posted outside the UK). Payment by cash, cheque or card.
  • Standard service - £10
    Certificate posted no later than five days after receipt of application by second class post. Payment by cash or cheque only

Searches in indexes

General search (search in the indexes by the applicant personally for not more than six successive hours) - £18.
An appointment must be made to carry out a search.

Note: No fee is payable for a search in the indexes when a particular entry in the register is specified.

Fees for marriages

1. Payable to the Superintendent Registrar

Marriage by Superintendent Registrar's certificate

Entry of notice - £35 per person

2. Payable to the Registrar present at the ceremony

(a) in the register office - £45 plus £4 for a certificate

(b) in a registered building (such as, a church or religious building) - £84 plus £4 for a certificate

3. Payable to the Superintendent Registrar present at the ceremony at an approved premises (for example, a hotel)

The fee for the attendance of the Superintendent Registrar and Registrar is set by the council for the area in which the building is situated. The fee should be paid no later than one month before the ceremony.

  • Monday to Thursday - £294
  • Friday - £299
  • Saturday - £334
  • Sunday and Bank Holidays - £404
  • All the above fees include £4 for a marriage certificate.
