Thinking about adoption or fostering?
Taking the time to look into and research adoption or fostering is a first step towards a rewarding challenge for some people. Thank you for making that first step to help with a child's life.
The Adoption and Permanence Team also provide information and support to children and adults who are adopted and to birth parents and families.
Adoption is the legal process by which children, who cannot be brought up by their own parents become a full permanent member of a new family.
Adoption is a lifelong commitment. Like all parenting it presents challenges and difficulties some of which require resilience and preservance to work through. But it can also be intensely rewarding as you see your child develop.
Fostering is a way of providing a family life for children who cannot live with their own parents.
With fostering often the child will return home once the problems that caused them to come into foster care have been resolved, and it is clear that parents, or extended family members are able to look after them safely.
Sibling groups
Could you make a permanent commitment to children through fostering?
In North Lincolnshire we have numerous sibling groups who need a life long family. Do you have the ability to provide this life long commitment so that siblings can stay together to maintain their relationships?
You will be working alongside others as part of a team to ensure that these children grow up in a safe and secure environment where they can meet their full potentials in a warm and loving home.
We are looking for those who are willing to provide this life long commitment for siblings of primary school school age and beyond. This role will bring with it many challenges and rewards. These children have all had different life experiences and have various backgrounds. They need empathy and understanding from their carers to meet their needs.
Our foster carers come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Please do not feel as though you have to have previous parenting experience to be able to undertake this role.
Foster carers are provided with an allowance to help with financial commitments for caring for children, and have a dedicated support worker from the Fostering Service.
If you feel you have the skills and can provide this commitment please contact us.
