Public events (road closures)
Sometimes, in special circumstances, roads are closed to allow sporting events or parades to take place.
A temporary road closure will be required when a road needs to be closed off to general traffic. These need a Traffic Regulation Order. The event organiser must pay the cost involved for both the closure and diversion.
Organisers must give at least six weeks' notice. We may need up to three months' notice for some events. Large events may require even longer.
