Access requests (dropped kerbs)

All domestic vehicle crossing (dropped kerb) requests must be made to the council's highway operations team.

This is to ensure that they are properly constructed.

The team deals with the provision of estimates and receives payments before the work is carried out.

Existing properties

If you wish to apply to have a dropped crossing (or dropped kerb) to your property then please contact us in one of the following ways:

Telephone: 01724 297000

Email: highway.maintenance@northlincs.gov.uk.

or write to:

Better Routes
Highways Depot
Brigg Road
Scunthorpe
North Lincolnshire
DN16 1AX

You can get an authorised approved contractor to construct the crossing. But the highway operations team must issue a licence first. Conditions apply to the licence.

Planning permission will be required for an access from a classified road.

If you live in a housing association property you need to get permission from your landlord.

New properties or new developments

If your request is regarding the provision of an access for new properties or development adjacent to the highway, contact the Safer Roads team on: 01724 297000

or write to:
