Pay and display car parks

All pay and display car parks are either long or short stay.

Short stay areas are primarily for shoppers. These include sites closest to the shops in the town centre.

People parking all day mostly use long stay car parks. These include shop and office workers. The car parks are mainly located on the edge of the town centre.

Parking tickets purchased in long stay car parks cannot be used in short stay car parks. However, parking tickets purchased in a short stay car park can be used in any other pay and display sites.

Blue badge holders

Blue badge holders can park free of charge in car bays in any of the car parks providing they display a current badge – wheelchair symbol to the front. They must not, however, park in a traffic lane or motor cycle bay. Holders must be in the vehicle at the time of parking or leaving the car park.

Motorcyclists and cyclists

Motorcyclists and cyclists can park for free in designated bays where they are available.
