Award winning alliance supports Civil Engineering course via unique opportunities.
North Lincolnshire Council has set up a unique partnership - that will see young people who fancy a career in civil engineering gain vital experience.
It will also see around six people gain fixed-term jobs. This unique initiative is the first of its kind in the country.
The council has teamed up with North Lindsey College and the Highways Alliance (the council, the council's contractors Clugston Construction and consultants Pell Frischmann), to develope a BTEC National Certificate in Civil Engineering. The course will start in September 2008.
To apply for the course applicants must be a least 16-years-old and have, or anticipate achieving, four GCSEs at grade A-C including Maths and English for school leavers (or any intermediate GNVQ). Mature candidates can be assessed for entry to the course based on work experience and age.
North Lindsey College is delighted that the course content will bring together Civil Engineering experiences from all members of the Highways Alliance.
In addition the Alliance will look to employ up to six applicants on two-year fixed term contracts whilst attending the course on day release. This has the prospect of permanent employment on completion of the course.
These six applicants will therefore:
- Achieve a BTEC National Certificate in Civil Engineering
- Be placed on a two-year contract
- Work towards securing a future in civil engineering
You can apply for the course by completing the application form below.
