Cycle Routes are principally indicated by signs and markings. They may be either on the road or on footpaths. When cycle routes are on footpaths they are either shared with or segregated from pedestrians, or on specially designated cycle paths.
Sustrans Route 1, part of the National Cycle Network, passes through the area. We have developed a network of 13 other enjoyable routes, from six miles to 50 miles in length.
The council also produces the 'Scunthorpe Town and Rural North Lincolnshire Cycle Map'. The map is available to download:

The council's transport planning team is responsible for developing future cycle scheme's, cycling maps, cycle forum and putting bids together for funding in the area.
The road safety team is responsible for providing cycle training through primary schools for children aged 10 and over. They can also provide help and advice on cycling in general.
The North Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership produces the 'Off Road Shared Cycle and Pedestrian Routes User Guide'. This gives essential information for the safe use of the many shared facilities in North Lincolnshire. The guide is available to download:
