Who is eligible for the new free travel pass?

Below is the criteria the council uses to see if a person is eligible for the new free travel pass. We've also included what you'll need to bring along with you when you register in order for us to check your eligibility.

Please note that this is subject to confirmation by the council's cabinet in September.

If you are:
You will need to show us:
A man or woman aged 60 or over
  • Retirement pension book or letter, birth certificate or passport.
  • A utility bill to you at your home address to show that you live in North Lincolnshire, unless your address is on your pension documents.
  • A War Pensioner
    or:
    Receive Disability Living Allowance (Mobility Element) at the higher rate
    Take your benefit book or official letter of confirmation to either Scunthorpe Shopmobility or one of the Local Links.
    Medically unfit to drive (This excludes people who have had their driving licence withdrawn because of persistant misuse of drugs or alchohol) Take to Scunthorpe Shopmobility or one of the Local Links a letter from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) refussing to issue or withdrawing your driving licence on medical grounds (DVLA letter D206 of D235)
    or:
    Apply to Scunthorpe Shopmobility or the Public Transport team for a Medically Unift to Drive application form.

    The disabilities listed below must be permanent or likely to last at least 12 months.

    If you are:
    You will need to show us:
    18 or over and blind, deaf, limbless or severe learning disabled An application form* signed by North Lincolnshire Council Adult Services
    Under 18 and blind, deaf, limbless or severe learning disabled An application form* signed by NCH Kaleidoscope, Dunstall Street, Scunthorpe DN15 6JZ.
    Unable to walk because of a long term disability or injury - you will normally:
    • be unable to walk up to 100 metres without stopping, severe discomfort or help from another person or;
    • use a mobility aid (such as a wheelchair, walking frame or crutches.)
    An application form* signed by your doctor certifying that you are unable to walk (Your doctor may charge for any examination or certificate required by the application).
    Limbless An application form* endorsed by Adult Services or the Artificial Limb Unit, East Yorkshire NHS Trust, Sykes Street, Hull HU2 8BB.

    * Application forms are available from the Public Transport team, Highways & Planning Service, North Lincolnshire Council, Church Square House, PO Box 42, Scunthorpe DN15 6XQ or Scunthorpe Shopmobility Centre, The Parishes Multi Storey Car Park, Fenton Street, Scunthorpe DN15 6QX.
