Definitive map

Definitive map - National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949.

Definitive map modification orders - Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The definitive map is divided into individual parishes. This is to help you find details of footpaths in a specific parish.

The map is accompanied by the associated modification orders made under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. There, modification orders bring the map up-to-date.

If you want to apply to modify the map, please visit our Application to Modify the Definitive Map and Statement page.

If you want to see what applications have been made (excluding applications determined by 31 December 2005, please visit our Register of Definitive Map Modification Order Applications.

Key:

  • purple line - footpath
  • green line - bridleway
  • broken green line - road used as a public path
  • brown line - byway open to all traffic
