Riddings Community Parent’s Project

The Riddings Community Parent’s Project works together with parents and their families. It aims to support them on a wide range of parenting issues. The project operates on a voluntary basis.

Who can have this support?

This support is available to any family living on the Riddings estate or families with at least one child aged between five and 13 years old that attends one of the following schools:

  • South Leys School
  • Enderby Road Infant School
  • Leys Farm Junior School
  • Riddings Infant School
  • Riddings Junior School

What happens if I do want this help?

You can refer yourself for help and support by telephone. You can also be referred by another agency/service.

The Parenting Officer will arrange a home visit with you to explain their role. They will also discuss how they can help and what is the best way forward.

Types of support

There are different types of support available. All support given is confidential. The types of support available include:

  • telephone support
  • a one-off session
  • weekly one-to-one sessions (which can be held in you home)
  • one-to-one sessions leading to a group-work programme
  • an eight-week group-work parenting programme. This covers a range of topics in a friendly, informal setting. This course is free and includes refreshments and a certificate on completion.

Follow-on support

Follow-on support available includes:

  • telephone support
  • opportunities for parents to run their own support group.
