Older people
The council provides a range of support to older people.
The services available:
- Provide information
- Assess needs and assist people to assess their own needs
- Help you to create a personal support plan
- Provide help during a crisis
- Keep vulnerable adults safe
- Help people access other services such as health services.

Adult social services is changing. Personalisation is about you being in control of the support you need and making sure that services are more personalised to your specific needs and individual circumstances.
You will be able to direct your own support and have complete control over the services you receive. You can ask for help to be able to do this.
The Mental Capacity act - deprivation of liberty safeguards
The Mental Capacity Act aims to protect people who cannot make decisions for themselves due to a learning disability or a mental health condition, for example Alzheimer's disease.
It provides clear guidelines for carers and professionals about who can take decisions in which situations.
